Week 1 Introduction to the Course
Wednesday 1/28: Discussion of the model we will use for this semester; introductions for new and returning members. Discussion of the guidelines for class participation, and for grading.
Friday 1/30: Guided "Treasure Chest" meditation, journal writing. Distribution of materials for next week’s classes. Generating topics for later classes.
Assignment: Journal about your experience with the meditation process. For Monday read the chapter from Brainstorm. Take notes from your reading and bring questions and observations that you want to discuss in class on Monday.
Week 2 Introducing Brainstorm
Monday 2/2: Discussion of Ch 1. We will watch parts of a talk by Dan Siegel to stimulate discussion. SNOW DAY
Wednesday 2/4: Looking at ESSENCE in our personal experiences. Bring notes and questions for discussion. We covered both Monday and Wednesday material.
Friday 2/6: What is "Mind"? Guided meditation from Mindsight activities.
Assignment: Journal about your Mindsight experience. For Monday read the next chapter of Brainstorm that I will distribute in class. Take notes from your reading and bring questions and observations that you want to discuss in class on Monday.
Week 3 The Concept of "Mind" and it's Applications
Monday 2/9: Further explorations of where we find "Mind" and learning more how to work with it consciously. Exercises from Brainstorm.
Wednesday 2/11: Count Day: Friday Schedule. Meditation and journal writing.
Friday 2/13: Discussion of Ch 2. Bring your ideas and questions from the reading of this chapter to class for a group discussion of concepts found there.
Week 4 Mid-Winter Break 2/16 -2/22
Week 5 Time-In and Attachment
Monday 2/23: Welcome back! Practicing breath awareness with Dan Siegel. Exploring the notion of awareness.
Wednesday 2/25: Attachment theory from Bowen to Siegel. We will discuss my short paper on Dependency Through the Life Cycle.
Friday 2/27: Mindsight tools on Attachment.
End of the Interim. Please submit your journals and class notes at the end of class on Friday. I will read and comment on them and return them on Monday 3/2.
